An Undeveloped Development
“So much is unfolding
so much is in bud.”
....Denise Levertov
My day unfolds
a careful crease
at a time until
dimension shifts
from 3rd to 2nd--
two eyes,
then one,
patched.
The world
is
flat,
some know,
(so much
depends on
a rainbow)--
Curiouser:
we roll
to flatten,
we rock
to sleep.
Is the Flat Earth Society
a union of bakers? Hmmm,
at least they have
some
sense--
they have
taste.
My day dog-ears
into a plastic bag
caught in a tree,
stretched flat
like ragged briefs,
haggard and colorless--
as daffodils stab
through winter
with ease
and my view rolls
down a mountain
across the supine valley
where structures
suddenly seem
in bud.
